Birth: 1898 Burragorang, NSW, Australia Death: 4 Oct 1917 (age 19) Belgium, Killed in Action Cemetery or Memorial: The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium Lower Burragorang and Cox's River Honour Roll Father: Joseph Stuart CLARKE Mother: Annie Elizabeth SHOOBRIDGE Clifford enlisted in June 1916 in Picton and served in the 20th Battalion First Squadron Australian Light Horse. He departed Sydney on the 'Suevic' 10 November 1916 and arrived in France via England in January 1917. He was admitted to King George Hospital in Rolleston suffering from Influenza where he remained for four weeks. He returned to France in June 1917. Trooper Clifford John CLARKE was killed in action in Belgium on 4 October 1917 age 19. |
